David is a psychologist who has been struggling with alcoholism since the death of wife three years earlier. Things begin to unravel when he gets pulled over for drunk driving and assaults the arresting officer. While in jail he encounters Wyatt, a man who is accused of murdering his wife, and he soon uncovers a connection between himself and this murderer that challenges him to look at him differently - and possibly forgive his heinous crime.

Scott Ainsley is a social media influencer who has made a lot of enemies, namely anyone who adheres to any form of religion. Just before leaving for a seminar in Seattle he learns of the recent death of his grandmother, whose ashes he is charged with interring. He leaves for his conference only to wind up stranded in Montana with nothing but his grandmother's remains. Over the course of a week he must fight to preserve both his life and his worldview.
